RESEARCHERS
Total Supervisor :

Keisuke Ueda
Professor
Faculty of Science, Rikkyo University
Rikkyo University Faculty of Science Life Science Professor. Born in 1950 in Osaka, Ueda earned his PhD at Osaka City University Graduate School of Science. His fields of specialization are behavioral ecology, animal behavior and evolutionary biology. His field research has focused on avian behavior and ecology, particularly in the field of planet and animal co-evolution in relation to the phenology of flowers and birds that feed on nectar, and seed distribution by fruit-eating birds.

Editorial Supervisor :

Teruyuki Komiya
Born in 1947 in Tokyo, Komiya became a keeper at Tama Zoological Park after graduating from Meiji University (School of Agriculture). After serving as a senior keeper at Ueno Zoological Gardens and Inokashira Park Zoo, and then chief keeper at both Tama and Ueno, he was appointed Director of Ueno Zoo, holding the position from 2004 to 2011. After retiring from Ueno, he has served as a lecturer at Meiji University, Tokyo Agricultural University and Utsunomiya University.

Masato Obuchi
Science communicator
Born in 1982 in Kobe, Obuchi majored in zoology at Kyoto University, also studying at postgraduate level. He went on to become an exhibit curator for the Amphibian and Reptile House at Ueno Zoological Gardens, handling both permanent and special exhibits, and winning the Frog Breeding Award. He has been engaged in a broad range of science communication activities since his appointment in 2013 to the position of Science Communicator at Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation).
